Perry Block

The purpose of the TRI-STATE HR COMEDY TROUPE is to write and perform comedy expressly designed for human resource professionals. In laughing at our own profession, we seek to have fun, entertain others, and demonstrate that HR professionals can be serious about our jobs while still enjoying ourselves. The Tri-State HR Comedy Troupe performs from time to time for the Tri-State Chapter and for other SHRM-related functions. The Community Outreach Committee provides HR expertise to the non-profit community with an annual seminar held every July open to officers, directors and staff of agencies in the tri-state area. The sessions offered have been a Legal Update, Performance Management, Selection Process, Termination Process, Myer-Briggs and other HR topics suggested by the attendees. The TSHRMA annual conference is the single largest professional networking and educational program that Tri-State sponsors. It is a huge undertaking and owes its continued success to the volunteers who contribute their time and ideas. The Human Resources Certification Institute Committee was developed to help assist and educate our members in advancing their HR profession by providing information on how to obtain the PHR (Professional in Human Resources), SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) and GPHR (Global Professional in Human Resources) designation. HRCI is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. The Institute's purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards and to recognize professionals who meet those standards. Tri-State HRMA HRCI Committee can help our members navigate through the entire process of obtaining and retaining their Certification. The Legislative Affairs Committee exists to education members on the latest legislative issues that may impact the workplace. The focus of the Marketing and Public Relations Committee is to publicize TSHRMA news to HR professionals and business leaders throughout the Tri-State area, recognizing accomplishments of its members and that of Tri-State on behalf of its members. The Membership/Volunteers Committee is committed to creative recruiting and retention programs focused on ensuring that our members understand the benefits that TSHRMA provides, as well as making sure that our newcomers feel welcome. The committee provides members the opportunity to meet, network and build relationships with other members within TSHRMA and the HR community. The committee is also the conduit for new volunteers coming into Tri-State, ensuring that they are connected with the appropriate committee that need assistance in concert with their interests, time availability and skills. Membership/Volunteers consists of a group of volunteers who are responsible for a variety of initiatives such as new member orientation, annual membership directory, annual Golf Outing referral programs, developing partnerships with other HR and business organizations, just to name a few. The second is to give special recognition to those vendors who have shown a consistent commitment, in both time and resources, to Tri-State HRMA.
